In keeping with the Culigma's definition that of Vampyres regarding the blood lineage of cursed, a vampyre is an supernaturaly inhabited corpse that has been agumented by mystical enhancement and survives by drinking the blood of humans and sometimes animals. It also has an otherworldly nature and can originate through a number of means including curse by religious means, curse through biological inheritance, curse through bite and others.

The living dead do not die as easily as humans, they are stronger; and being stronger, have more power to overcome by mere mortals such as us. Once a vampire is amongst your people, and can tap their strength, he or she can be as strong in person as fifty people; they are cunning as the most cunning animal and the older one becomes the more knowledgable he or she gains use of including that of mystical sources. They are brutes, and more than brutish; they are filled with contempt for the living; they can, within limitations, appear at will when and wherever and in whatever form that that is known to the vampyre. They can through ceremonial knowledge, direct the weather including storms, fog, lightening and even snow. They can command all the primal creatures such as the rat, the owl, and of course the bat to lesser degrees it has been noted that vampyres also have a report with insects of the night and the wolf. Most accomplished vampyres can transform into all creatures he or she conects with as well as the elements of nature that they control.

In the Umberlexicon are invokation words for legends such as stregoica, ordog, and pokol. In one volume of this cursed book there is written a formulae for creation of something refered to as "wampyr" which does not require translation here.

When examining the "essence of the vampyre," or that which is distilled once we remove various fictional characters nuances and personalities, we find particular things in common in most every vampyre story: the fact that a living victim had been bitten and killed by a vampire and is now a walking corpse with supernatural powers. These powers included turning into mist and shapeshifting, invisibility, mesmerism, superhuman strength, immortality and, of course, a murderous bloodthirst as mentioned above.
