I hadn't noticed this link or I would have gone here instantly!
For those still wondering what Bushido is, here is my interpretation of The Way of the Warrior. srry if its long and boring!
Now I don't know about u guys, but must people I've met say that Bushido is stupid and the people who practiced it are suicidal maniacs. This isn't true in the slightest bit. Bushido has been around since the early Heian era, but it wasn't until the Tokugawa era that the rules of Bushido were written down in 3 books (Srry, could not find the names of the books but if anyone finds out, plz message me!).
Bushido in its core basics is a resolute acceptance of death, and be willing to die for your liege lord, daimyo, shogun, emperor, or whatever. It was pretty much the equivelent of medieval european chivalry. The core values in Bushido were much the same as chivalry... Rectitude, endurance, frugality, courage, politeness, veracity, and especially loyalty.
The only time suicide was permitted was when the samurai lost honor, say he ran from the battle, he would be forced to commit seppuku, a form of ritualized suicide. Or if a castle was under siege and it would buy the lord of the castle more time, some samurai would lead a suicide charge through the main gate.
Whew! That took a long time to write, thanks for reading. Plz post some comments on it!
