I would like to introduce my self to the members of that group and also to give an opportunity for a further comparative discussion with a concern to the pre-Socratic philosophical thought. So I believe that it will be a perfect opening to compare and contrast briefly the philosophical Ideas of Perception and Knowledge according the pre-Socratian philosopher, Anaxagoras with the ideas of Parmrnides and Democritus.
Anaxagoras’ idea of perception is that “reason” of the “catholic” order is the noūs, which is the human insight that can be raised to a divinity being through the persuasion of the natural knowledge. Parmenides’ believes do not opposed the Anaxagorians’ ideas but he stated that the knowledge of the “being” is impossible to overcome it, because of the minor resources that we have as human beings. Thus, he stated that erudition (polymathy) does not edify intelligence or reason, senses are deceptive and he full reject the reliability of sense data. On the other hand Democritus’ consideration concerning the human perception and knowledge is extremely positive. As a eudemon person Democritus said that the soul in cooperation with the mind “noūs” could be the source of knowledge for a human being, a theory, which was in a completely indulgent with the Plato’s doctrine years latter.
    With honour,
    Nikolaos Cleomenes.
