This is a treatise on kingship of a king wose name we donīt know, to his son and successor Merikare. Itīs from the First Intermediate Period.
Do not distinguish the son of a man of rank
from a commoner, but take a man to yourself because of
his actions so that every craft can be carried on....
So how a man acted was the important thing, not that he came from this or that background. How do we regard that today?
