It's wonderful to have you here. Every aspect of The Julio-Claudian "dynasty" has fascinated me ever scince I first saw I, Claudius nearly thirty years ago and then read Tacitus' Annals of Imperial Rome, which was quite possibly the most entertaining history book I have read to date (besides Barabara Tuchman's A Distant Mirror, but that, perhaps, is another symposium).
Here's my question. I recently dusted off Barbara Levick's book, "Claudius" for the umpteenth time in two years with the personal committment to finish it once and for all, but find it as impassable as the Alps in winter. I get about four chapters into it and my interest flags. I can't tell if it's the way the book is organized or the way Ms. Levick writes. Have you read the book? What do you think?
