Cold Comfort
by Kallistos Alexandros
I sent my mother flowers today, at least I think
I did. I have a service which sends them automatically on the right
day with the right card. They’re charged to one of my credit
cards, I don’t remember just which. I never see the bills, they
go to my accountants. Unless there is some dispute, They don’t
contact me. She shall call tomorrow and thank me; she has unlimited
calls on her phone card, my accountants pay the monthly charges. My
tax accountants have managed to take the price of my financial accountants
off my income tax. so, happy Mother’s Day, 2006. The accountants
shall pay the credit card company before there are any carrying charges.
She shall be 88 this year; I should arrange now for something appropriate
to be automatically sent when she is 90. All obligations can so easily
be discharged with proper planning, it's all automatic.
