    As you say, Savina, this hypocrisy would be commonplace among the aristocracy. I didn't mean that it would be the credo of the fraternity. Basically, the classic knight would be seen in perhaps a more accurate light by having an order (dedicated to the protection of Christendom, of couse) that focuses more on the darker aspects of the hypocrisy rather than making them look like angels in armor. LOL

    In theory, they are very chivalrous. In practice, moral transgressions are their noblesse oblige, to which other nobles turn a blind eye (unless of course there is a motive to blackmail *eg*).
