Aaahhhh...my first night in my new home...a little Bailey's on the rocks...my old, beat-up Les Paul (her name is Black Betty, by the by), ESPN with the sound turned down (they;re doing some kind of groin-pull round-up on SportsCenter), and AW.

I was just reminiscing about my old days as the War Chief (or, as my buddy Dinnsear called me, Warty Cheeks, and my...sort-of...buddy Gwalchmai Trinovantes called me, War Cheese). That was back in the Halcyon Days of Olde, at AS. Ah, me hearties, THAT was fun.

I still miss a lot of those folks...tuathla Morna, Gwal, Dinnsear, Margedda Brigantes, Ket Brigantes, Angus Manach, Nymue Cormac, the list goes on. What a WILD crew we were. Gwal was the best historian of the bunch, although tua was the most fun to post with. GOD she was funny. Gwal and tua actually got married. That was back inna day, when, to quote a Site member named Gnaeus Cassius, the "old gram logs were full of vile filth". Heh.

Right now, you're saying, "Big Papa C, what does this have to do with Celtic history? About Ebrauc, Ebraic, Eboracom, Jorvik, York, Yorkshire, et al?"

It's MY history, right here at this site. Within two weeks of joining, Gwal (in his persona as Rhodri Brigantes, Brehyrion of that ancient and storied tribe) asked me to be War Chief. Still have no idea why. MAN was I a hothead back then. Any time someone looked at me cock-eyed, I was ready to spill blood- - literally. I look back and wish I could laugh, but I put a lot of people off that didn't need to be put off. I still have a reputation as a sh*t-disturber and ne'er-do'well. BUT...I've also gained a reputation as a good historian (at least where the Celts and Vikings are concerned), and a decent writer.

To be honest, I've learned SO much about writing from this site. I've truly become a vetter writer (but not a better typist - didja SEE that?). And I've learned TONS about ancient history. I've out-debated college professors with knowledge I've learned from this site. I always check sources when I learn something new. I'm OCD like that. So, when I get into a debate with someone, I'm usually right. It's changed, and not completely for the better, at this Site. But I'll keep playing here. This site is like smoking crack.

I just hope my teeth don't fall out.

    TTFN, as Tigger would say.
