Sin, that is a very interesting post! There are tons of questions people have asked throughout the centuries about Jacob's Ladder. I have read many different theories about what the ladder is...but I'll just stick with one that I recently looked up.

In Asimov's Guide to the Bible, there is a theory given. It states that the ladder may have been a ziggurat:

"The name "Bethel" means "house of God," an obvious reference to a temple, or even a ziggurat, which may have stood on the site quite early in Canaanite times." (pg. 94)

But, who's temple would it have been in that area? And why would it be the house of "God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac"?
