LOL - one of the fun things about having a Caesar site on the Web, is that you get the weirdest approaches. I was contacted by email last week by a rep of the Royal Shakespeare Company, which is doing a production of Julius Caesar this May, asking if I could do a history of Caesar's life, and the background of the play in 1200 words, for the program.
What larks! But it wasn't as easy as I thought.
Anyway, I'll wait to see if it actually makes it into the program, but the discipline of trying to present a summary of Caesar's life, career, personality, and background in Rome both before and after his murder while focusing mainly on Caesar (as opposed to Brutus, Cassius, etc.) was an exhilarating exercise. So FWIW, may I share it with ya'll, fellow afficianadoes?
