I had gone far out of my way to ensure I did not purchase a pc with Real player in any form since I don't really like that either. It's nearly as bad as Quicktime. And as for Quicktime itself, any program that once uninstalled consistently reinstalls itself in your system or attempts to through persistent registry methods is formally termed SPYWARE / SCUMWARE. (don't believe me? Read Wikipedia's definition -
"...the term spyware refers to a broad category of malicious software designed to intercept or take partial control of a computer's operation without the informed consent of that machine's owner or legitimate user. "
)
It is not a great program. It is great if you want it, but it does indeed take over your entire system. I assure you I am not the only one saying this. Here's something funny and maybe will let you see the other side of the coin for us ms users.. Go to google.com, type in why quicktime sucks and hit enter. It's hilarious.
"Results 1 - 30 of about 793,000 for why quicktime sucks. (0.27 seconds) "
Boy do they get into detail.
But I totally get your argument (though I disagree since it's not another programs conflict it's quicktime itself's persistent scummy methods i have a problem with) when you use something and enjoy it, find it useful and all that it doesn't make sense when someone else wants desperately to be rid of it. *sigh* That's the computing world I suppose LOL
Anyway, long story longer, I am not interested in debates about how Quicktime can work for me, I am only interested in removing it permenantly. Sorry!
