    Here's an easy mnemonic device to remember which letters in the Cyrillic alphabet look and sound like their equivalents in the English alphabet: KOMETA (=comet). I remember this from trying to learn the alphabet with one of those self-instructional texts. It was a neat book. If you can find Writing Russian Script by Irving J. Saltzman at your public library, it is worth exploring.
