I wrote this article for someone who needed help on how she lost her filipino languange, I hope this will teach her a little about their history.

Philippines : The 2 Major Dialects

Philippines, also called the Pearl of the Orient is one of the most diverse countries in Asia. It's inhabitants are a mixed of Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, and lately there have been quiete alot of Koreans flocking to the islas. Situated in a bunch of islands, it was hard for the Spaniards to conquer Philippines becuase at the time, no one knew the total land area of Philippines. The Spaniards worked hard until they colonized the first filipino city, Cebu.

Cebu or "The Queen City of the South" was established by the Spanish during the early Spanish occupation. This made Cebu a major hub for trading merchants, since thy can easily trade with the Europeans thru the "Filipino-Spanish-Europe" link. Cebu also tehre languange started to become more Hispanic, mainly affected by the Christian relegion, they used Spanish titles for the saints and frequently used Spanish numbers (uno, dos, tres, etc.)

Later in the uccupation, the Spaniards finally captured Manila. At this time, Manila was just a small city, while Cebu was the capital city and the largest city of Philippines. The people of Manila fought hard against the Spanish, they where hard to defeat but finally defeated. The most major Spanish rebel acts where held here, but in Cebu the people have become attached with the Spanish. Note: At this time, Philippine's major languange was cebuano/bisaya mainly the reason is because the capital at the tiem was Cebu.

After the Spanish occupation, the Manilas and pretty much the rest of Philippines was freed, but then occupied by the harsh Japanese (which today, I forgive because they donate alot of money to the Philippines.) We where under Japanese rule and law for 3 years, most women where made into "comfrot women" and put into brothels, while men worked as slaves. Still, the Pearl of the Orient is not shining, it is covered with dirt and it's over shadowed by the Japanese Flag.

Finally, hope came when the Americans defeated the Japanese in Philippines. Even thoguh they defeated the Japanese, we then became a country under American rules, laws, and even languange and president. Although the Philippines aprpeciated the Americans help by bringing education and things that we didn't pretty much have, the Filipino's still wanted to be independent, it is a dream that was only achieved at around 1960 - 1960 when the Americans finally told the Filipinos we are an Independent country.

At this time, the capital was instantly mvoed to Manila, also where they elected the first President. Itw asn't until later in the 1970's that Philippine's greatest President would come. Also, the main languange spoken just now is Tagalog, probebly becuase they moved the capital to Manila. The greatest president of Philippines, and one of the smartest people in the world finally ruled Philipines. Marcos, a veyr smart and rich man, made Philippines veyr wealthy and at the time the second richest country in Asia, respectively right after the Japanese.

Marcos and his wife made Philippines popular, sending alot of athletes to the Olympis, meeting many foreign rpesidents, building better schools and services, and attending many elegant parties. One of thse elegant parties are Marco's and his wife's favourite, catwalks, they bought clothes from European Fashion Designer Legends. This is one of the reason that made Marco's wife, Imelda have the greatest shoe collection of all time, all of expensive brands and msot costum made.

Today, the Pearl is almost shining, still haunted by the past it
shines dimly. I wonder when the Pearl while shine to it's brightest extent, only time can tell.
