Everyone who studies the classics eventually comes to the poet, Cavafy. He was a Greek who lived in Constantiople and Alexandria at the turn of the 20th century. He was a romantic poet of the Victorian Era and students always fall in love with him. No one could better illustrate the legacy of the ancient world in our times. I present here one of his poems called, " The God Forsakes Anthony".
