My feet don't rest when there is music upon the air. A mere tapping of the toe will never do. I must be part of it! The guards at the door may have my sword and sgian dubh, but my favorite weapon is still on me. Withdrawing the sable chanter from my belt, I launch myself into the small band of musicians and add my bird-like descant to the jig. Amlaidh and Una are marvellous strummers and vocalists, and Una's older sister Étromma a wonder on the bodhrán.
We must be a spectacle, the four of us, whirling and leaping about like hounds at play. Ah, but the host of revellers is too busy with dancing of their own to even notice us! That is, all except my sweet Fedelm. It is often difficult to be in love with the Brude's Ard Draoi. There is seldom an opportunity to be affectionate, especially given the solemnity of our mission in uniting the Seven Tribes. At all times Fedelm is needed at Verica's side, and my place is with the warriors - Dobhar, Ursus, Cineadh, Valeria, and Scathach.
What place has solemnity in this broch of merriment? Returning the chanter to my belt, I lope my way through the crowd and face my beloved Fáidh, taking her hands in mine. "Shall we go for a gallop, my love?" Before she can answer, I throw my arms around her and hurl us both into the maelstrom of dance!
