X-post: Results of Varangian Way hood planning meeting

Firstly, thank you very much to everyone who came to the chat, especially since many of you ended up volunteering to help! We really appreciate all of you! A very special THANK YOU to Marduk for taking the reins and keeping us organized!

Basically, here are the results of our meeting, if I have made any errors or omissions, tell me right away or post them so we are all on the same page.

We decided to focus on the main Hood page then move on to each City one at a time. We will set a goal, accomplish it,then move on to the next. There was discussion of then adding Kiev as a City, but we felt we should fix these first then move forward.

It was suggested that we do short write-ups (100-150 words) about each of the major cultures that impacted the Varangian Way, then create an interactive TimeLine to link them all together. Plaques and avatars specific to the V.W will also be made.

Volunteers so far:

Quintus Cinna Cocceius will create the Flash Timeline once all the information is in.
Norvegius Lupus will research Scandinavians in the V.W., but needs help finding images of Scandinavian coins and/or treasure.
King Theodoric Ostrogoth will do 3-D models, if needed.
Marduk Hammurabi will research the Mongol and Khazars and will help with the Slavs.
Louisa Agis will create plaques and avatars for V.W use.
Aelfwine Scylding will research Vikings in Byzantium
Anarane will research Slavs and Bulgars

Send all write-ups, artwork, etc to Marduk's home and he will get them where they need to be. Also, write-ups can be plain text or html.

If we can get this material in the next week, two at the outside, Quintus Cinna can get the Time Line done as soon as he has the information.

(Note to Marduk: Image files can be sent to Anarane to be uploaded, if necessary. Leave me a scroll and I will get back to you as to where to send them.)

This is just a beginning, we will post for further help as we get going OR you can contact any of the above to help!
