Mausaeus Carausius was born to a humble family of seafaers in the Netherlands. He was the admiral of a Roman fleet sent to put an end to Frankish pirates in the channel. After using booty he captured from the Frankish pirate ships to employ the Franks in his navy, the Emperor in Rome ordered his death. Getting wind of this, in 286 AD Mausaeus declared himself emperor and moved his fleet to Britain. He made the Franks of Gaul his allies. I am wondering if there were Druids in this alliance, they said to have been based in Marseille and Narborne which were seaports on the southern coast of Gaul. Sailors do not leave allot of archelogical evidence behind. Were the Druids seafarers?
