Ok, so the judges have brawled conversed quietly for a few hours, making the decision to present a number of awards instead of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, since the entries were so clever and original, and made them laugh out loud.

And the winners/awards are... *drum roll*

    Sokni Hvitaskald

The Herakles Award - For showing exceptional courage and even facing (and bargaining with) additional obstacles.

    (image 91870)
    Kallistos Alexandros

The Homeros Award - For great storytelling and knowledge of the Greek myths.

    (image 91871)
    Laurels Curius

The Hermes Award - For a very shrewd (and funny!) race, and for having the vision to use one obstacle to defeat another.

    Lorelei Aristophanes

The BOB (Brain Over Brawn) Award - For a spectacular finish, just two minutes before the deadline.

    Paneb Imhotep

The Dionysos Award - For thinking outside the box and writing his race log in the form of a play (that we Greeks so love).

    Fedelm Cruithni

Best Character Award - Goes to Fedelm's smart sandals and their funny discussion of Zeno's paradoxes of motion.

    Heraklia Aelius

Best Technique Award - For best use of a dentist's drill and other items to cheat blatantly advance in the race.

    Calpurnia Caesar and Verrius Volumnius

The Hephaistos Award - For coming up with inventive, non-violent ways to defeat the obstacles. Okay, so Calpurnia tried to set the Cyclops on fire and Verrius did chop off some of the Hydra's heads, but those were minor incidents. ;)

    Congrats to all!
