I want to thank all of you for joining Mediaphiles. I'm looking forward to learning all about media for the Internet with you. This place is for experimention. Work on your audio, video, Flash, or whatever projects. Ask advice and feedback from other members. Ask questions about a program, we'll make a tutorial if possible.
If you have a microphone and a little space on an outside server, you're already on your way to getting the most out of MEDIAPHILES. Record your own comments, poetry, stories, or your own podcast and post them on the boards I have set up on the main page. Same goes if you have a video camera. We'd love to see what you have to offer. If you need help getting that first audio or video post up on the board, just ask. We're happy to help.
Get Gizmo. I have already made a post about this telephone program for your computer. It's free, and will give us a chance to communicate with each other personally and in a conference call for the group. This kind of communication between members is what's going to make this group unique at AW.
It would help us a lot to hear from each one of you. Tell us what you would like to learn or experiment with. Tell us what kind of sound and video equipment you have, if any. Get comfortable and make this place your home.
You may have noticed the position called "media artist" on the main group page. That position is for regular audio or video posters. It's a higher level than dabbler and will allow an artist to edit a post after the usual time for editing has expired.
Most importantly ask questions. The key to any successful group, especially an online one, is dialogue. One question that you may not have wanted to post because it seemed too simple-minded, may spark a wonderful discussion that could go on for days. Let's keep this group active!
Thanks again for joining MEDIAPHILES and I hope to hear from each one of you soon.
