It's based on a book I have with medieval russian illustrations. The structure and most elements respect a design found in a book of gospel from the 10th-11th centuries, except for the flower in the middle; I couldn't make what was originally there look alright (it was a repeat of the motif of the outter square), so I went for a flower from a 16th century design that came from another gospel book. Overall, I respected the whole color scheme. I know it's a five centuries span, but I thought it worked *g* And like Shanti would say, it looks slightly japanese anyway, LOL

Nota Bene: this is a gift for Anarane Burgundian: please do not adopt.
