Well, I tried. I have worked on the hoods, but am burnt out there and have left them for others to work on and finish. I am helping with a few graphics for Springfest. So no, I won't disappear entirely, Fedelm. *S*

Honestly, we SE's are not here to step on anyone's toes and we are accutely aware of trying to avoid that, though it does seem to happen every now and then no matter how hard we try. As scribes, you do what you can when you can. We all know it is hard work. The key is not to lose focus or sight of the primary functions of the position.

But the area that myself and others feel we could be most helpful is with the welcoming, seeing as it has been knocked down a few notches on the scribal duty importance scale. We could pick up some of the slack there, especially as some of us are also members of our world's welcoming committees, but lack the ability of having newbies able to gram with us unlimitedly. So we are stuck in a catch-22 with this aspect of it. (And yes, I for one am extremely frustrated with the lack of ability to communicate at this site, even as a patron.) Usually what I end up doing in my welcoming gram is making the point that, if immediate assistance is needed, to gram a scribe or demi. I have even contacted a scribe on occasion myself to have them continue with assisting a newbie once they were out of grams with me.

These are the only work arounds I can think of for the time being. Not the best solutions in my opinion, but doable with the cooperation of others.
