    Thank you for your feedback ApilIshtar. It is a fascinating subject and I also believe that the greek Zeus as wielder of the thunderbolt is another aspect of Adad.

    Another interesting similarity is Ishtar/Inanna and the Indian Durga. They both ride tigers or lions, both have weapons (bows-arrows, etc) for fighting in battles and both are connected to sensuous or sexual activities. In fact Durga is worshiped as the yoni or vagina in India. Durga is also considered another aspect of Kali who is fierce and defiant - just like Ishtar/Inanna. And Shiva the partner of Durga lives in the underworld as does Dumuzi... Its very interesting to see the common traits that both share.
