No, there is a bug that pops up from time to time. When you delete an image, though its gone, your image gallery still records the space taken. I'll turn in a bug report to the great and powerful Jot and hopefully he can tidy things up for you.

Books, etc. have not been implemented as of yet but have nothing to do with your lack of image space.
