"Allow me to show you this land that I love. We can see nearly the whole of the county from the ridge by the crofter's cottage, there is a bower by the mill pond where the evergreens scent the air and sheild us from the winter gale, and in the early evening the lake steams create a fairyland of mist and ice where the forest meets the shore. I think you will like the forest at this time of year, before the wild garlic blooms.
Let me show you the forgotten corners of our graveyard, where monuments erected before the Normans came still stand, or I can take you to the tumbled stone ring, deep in the woods. The moon will be bright, and rises early tomorrow, so perhaps I can meet you here just after sunset tomorrow, and we can begin our tour by the lakeside?
