Good Evening To You, My Gentle Friends,

I have a very short story about the Movie "The Prodigal" . . .

Our daughter, Julie, called me to ask me if I knew about a movie poster that had a lady reclining on a huge, ugly gold and blue sort of dragon statue . . .

I said I had no idea . . . She said that since I loved old movies, she figured that I would know . . .

I asked who the lady was. She had no idea. It was just a poster of a beautiful younger-looking lady reclining in the arms of this ugly statue . . .

Then her husband, Tony, said that he had seen this statue in the yard of some Travel Agency down in Newark, Delaware, where we lived . . . He remembered the name of the Travel Agency, and told me . . .

I asked Julie when this movie had been made. Oh, I don't know, she said, probably in the 40's or 50's . .

Well, since I love my movies, I got to thinking, and it bothered me that I couldn't think of this lady. I don't know why, especially since I had no earthly clue who she even looked like. But anyway, I was thinking and thinking . . .

The next morning, I had this brilliant idea to call the Travel Agency that Tony had told me about.

Oh yes, the lady said. We did have that Statue in our yard as a conversation piece, and it drew quite a bit of attention. But we recently sold it to some man, who had it transferred to his home in another state. Now, it is in his yard, and since it is quite tall, and quite ugly, his neighbours are objecting to it, and the City Council wants him to get rid of it.

I was trying very hard not to laugh at her story . . .

Can you tell me what movie it was in, I asked the lady.

Oh Yes, it was "The Prodigal", with Lana Turner.

So she was the one reclining in the arms of the Statue, I asked the lady.

    Oh Yes, that's the lady.

    Ah, Mystery Solved!!! . . .

But I felt sorry for the man who paid quite a large sum of money for this obviously ugly statue, to have it transported to his home on a special truck, and then the townspeople want him to get rid of it!!! . . .

My Daddy always said: Be careful of what you want - You just might get it!!! . . .

    Have A Wonderful Evening . . .
