Same problem I've had on another persona's home: I had to store the background image on an external site. I think that the AW size limit is 100k.
Maybe it could be possible to make a 100k background image with reasonable quality - possibly a simpler graphic, not a photo - and store it on AW, but I haven't experimented. Or is there a limit of heigth+length dimensions too? I'm not aware of this.
