In 1509, Henry VII – King of England and founder of the Tudor dynasty died. The Florentine artist and sculptor, Torrigiani was commissioned to create his tomb. The project took nine years to complete. The tomb was made of marble and included bronze figures of Henry VII and his Queen, Elizabeth of York. The tomb was one of the first; if not the first time that several of the aspects of Italian Renaissance architecture and style were used in England. The tomb is still found at Westminster Abbey in London.
