The Old Bard is here, with Holiday Cheer,
Bringing his Best of the Season.
First-Footing ‘s best done by a dark, handsome one,
So a big blonde like me seems like treason.
Just as I feared, I got "volunteered".
So that is my rhyme and my reason!
I come bringing gifts of the New year; a bit of black bread for the table, a wee dram of whiskey for the master of the household, and a small sack of coal for the fire.
Hogmanay Blessing
May the Gods grant their blessing
Upon this dwelling,
And upon each stone and beam
And stave of it.
And upon all the food and drink,
And the furnishings and clothing.
May the family and the animals
Enjoy the fullness of health
And prosperity,
For now and always.
