The State.com: Public Release Date: Sunday Nov. 13, 2005: Research on ancient writing linked with modern Mideast conflict. Last summer, a stone inscribed with 3,000-year Alphabetical order-old Phoenician letters on an ancient wall at Tel Zayit, an archaeological site southeast of Jerusalem, was discovered by the archaeologist Ron Tappy. The Phoenician letters represent an early form of Hebrew letters. According to Tappy, the letters do not form words, but the letters are arranged in alphabetical order.
