in the middle ages surf played a game simalar to to modern football they even wore leather gear with a colored tunic over it the color of the tunic let other people know what village they were from ther were two teams with 10 players from each village they may have wore leather helmets but evan with safty items it was much more aggresve than modern football the ball was a leather ball stuffed with wool or a pig bladder ther was no footbal goal like in modern football but ther was a table instead the object of meideval football was to kick or get the leather ball to the the table that was from your village the other players on the other team would grab kick punch and of course block and tackle you and your other team mates so you would not be able to get the ball to your table, and rember ther were no couches but ther was a elderly village keeper this was a score keeper and also a rule keeper(a referer)thism could be ethier a man or a woman, but no marred women were allowed to play or keep score but madens could play and older widows often keep score, sice surf could not enter joust or enter horse races! on holidays and feast day's this was a game that was just as fun
