I've been chatting with the Germanic Scribe Anarane about having a public Haunted House RP event for Golfest, sponsored by DUFE. Here's what I've been brainstorming so far...
"It was a dark and stormy night..." *LOL* Actually, that's not half bad. It's stormy, which makes travelers on the road need to find shelter, so they come to Drakesheath Hall. Edmund cannot leave them perched on the terrace, so he reluctantly invites the travelers in. He tells the uninvited guests that it was wise of them to find shelter, as there have been reports of attacks by strange wolves, outside the village. At the same moment, a queer howl may be heard outside, at which time Edmund hastily closes and bolts the door. When a woman's cry is heard upstairs, Edmund feels he must investigate, but some of the visitors do not wish to remain alone in the foyer, especially from the tales they've heard about this manor.
I will have a brief synopsis of the Curse of Drakesheath on the main page of the thread. It will also include the picture of the manor. As for the crying woman, the sound will always sound like it comes from the next room, so the traveling party will have a reason to explore every room. Some may go off on their own, if they wish, but as Edmund comes to each room, I'll post another graphic with a description. I invite the participants to work up any hijinx they would like to add. I will also add things, like the sound of a breaking window and a wolf's growl, rooms with torture devices and instruments of death, perhaps a dead body or two, and of course I will conclude with the source of the woman's cry (Any ideas? *LOL*). I'll also throw in an ad for DUFE (with a link to the group) and a badge for all participants.
Does anyone have any other ideas to bring to the table? I'd like to get as much group representation as possible, both in planning and participating. It's for Halloween! Let's do what we do best! *S*
(I don't see that this necessarily has to align with the story arcs as found here in our group, particularly with the party event planned for Felix. Think of this Haunted House RP as a parallel reality to draw attention and entice newcomers to the group.)
