I enjoyed it immensely. The opening credits, with animated graffiti and mosaics, are terrific, and the city looks right for a change, all color and noise and smell. The cast is perfect (although Cicero seemed a little young and hairy) and the writing is good - none of the embarrassingly bad dialogue that made me want to throw things at my TV before turning it off about 20 minutes into the recent ABC series.
But what's with that black toga Cato wears? How about whistles in battle, instead of tubae?
And I have a hard time recognizing the Brutus of Cicero's letters in the shallow, callow youth who visits Caesar's camp.
