Charles Martel, won the Battle of Tours in 732, which has been characterized as the salvation of Europe from the Arab menace. In the year In 112, Abdul Rahman prepared to invade Gaul. His recruits came from Yemen and the Levant. Many arrived, and he crossed the Pyrenee range, with and army composed of Arabs and Berbers. He made it to Aquitania and Burgundia, captured the city of Bordeaux, and defeated the armies of Charles Martel. Charles Martel managed to form an army of Gauls and Germanics, and defeated Abdul Rahman near the river Loire. Abdul Rahman was killed in this battle.
