In case y'all missed it, I'll repost it ...
"It'd be really kewl if we could make this a collabrative effort. I'm not really suggesting any kind of competition, but more of a 'here's what I've done, what did I miss, or could it be more concise, etc?'
"Puttin' it out there for feedback ...."
And I think it's the Weavers' job to take everyone's ideas and tweek it, consolidate it, and present it for commment. I'm *specifically* suggesting that it's not one person's work.
And as for following ... frankly, I'm completely behind the rationale for the guidelines about accessibility. I have deaf, blind and otherwise physically challenged people in my life. 'Nuff said, I don't wanna stand on a soap-box, here.
Now ... *here's* a challenge ... Let's be innovative *within* the guidelines? :) Cuz, I totally support that concept. I've been following some webmaster/css guru-types listgroup conversations along the same lines. So many of the designers, to be compliant, are BORING. There's a real challenge afoot (like at CSSZenGarden) to make compliant code fun, interesting, compliant, and X-browser compatible. It's a bit like chasing the holy grail, but worth it I think.
And, just to be clear, when I say challenge, I really, really *don't* mean competitive ... I mean: "what's the best ya got? Let's see it!" I mean who's to say that we can't take several different ideas and apply them all around Arachne? As a kind of internal gallery, eh?
Oh! And one last thing ... sorry ... I shoulda made it clearer, I guess. I'm talking about designing *around* Aya's winning logo. That's what I was talking about when I said we had six weeks, cuz that's when hers goes up :).
