I'm leaning more and more these days to design that manages to incorporate the message backgrounds. The method for "defeating" the watermarks are SO tedioua, that it's almost not worth it. Until and unless Jot decides to allow a similar feature (like we have in our homes to set a style for the whole set of pages) in groups, I tend to agree that a solid background (or one that doesn't clash with the watermarks) is a smart move.
However ... I don't want to discourage ANY design concept, personally. My suggestion is ... let's all put out there what comes to mind, and then we'll work on consolidating the ideas/concepts.
