Here is Corny's original post with the info from Jot, back in September, 2004. I also agree that this is one of many problems and wouldn't it be great if we could fix it. This however, as Asenath pointed out, is NOT Jot's bug.

We heard from the great and powerful Jot. The problem with the greyed out images have to do with the datacenter. There apparently is a bug in the graphics application at that level and they informed Jot that it may take a GOOD while before its fixed.
He is not going to let us down despite this setback and is working on a work around to the problem.
But in the meantime, it would be best to forgo the jpg images and stick to gifs and pngs.
Sextus, I agree this is a pain. We do have a work around for this, such as using a PNG graphics format, which other folks have pointed out. Unfortunately, the hosting company is the one that has to make changes and we are the ones along for the ride until that happens.
If the software you have does not process to a PNG format, I'm sure there are folks here who are happy to help, one of them being me. I apologize for the inconvenience, but this is the way its going to be for awhile.
