It's strange occurance in cyber-space. You get a really cool storyline moving, lots of people involved (or maybe just two), things are clicking along and then.....(dramatic music.....dun,dun,dun!!!!) a key player goes AWOL!!!
So whatcha gonna do?
Case in point on what NOT to do.....
Something like this happen back at AS in the group Qenbet. The entire group (and those of you who remember AS, Qenbet was a LARGE group of writers - for someone writing online for the first time, it was quite daunting) had worked up a premise where the crown prince (a child at the time) would be abducted from the palace and then the nation would marshall to find him.
Problem - the key player, the abductor, disappeared with no hint on where the storyline would go. Another keyplayer also disappeared, same problem.
The group was thrown into chaos with calls for the return of the prince, but in real life, no one wanted to move on the story for fear of stepping on the creator's toes. It WAS his storyline afterall.
After weeks, months of this, writer's fell away and the storyline became completely defunct. I'm not even sure what they did to resolve the problem since AS died shortly thereafter.
So - what NOT to do - DO NOT lose momentum......ever.
How can we combat this common problem in the cyber world?
