Vain, egotistical, manipulative, and roguish...and those are some of his better qualities.
The eldest son of Ardeth Narmer-an Egyptian antiquities dealer-Nathan was shipped off to England for a formal education at a fairly young age. After graduating from Oxford Nathan opted
to travel the rest of Europe before finally settling down in Paris, this did not sit particularly well with Ardeth who expected Nathan to return home to Cairo to help him run the family business, needless to say this has caused something of a rift between father and son.
While living in Paris Nathan added gambling to his already impressive number of vices, bridge in particular. Nathan also made the acquaintance of several generous and eligible-and some not quite as eligible-ladies, who were more than willing to provide him with the means to live in the life style to which he has become accustom to over the years. Unfortunately the husband of one of Nathan's "acquaintances" (a high ranking French official) became aware of his wife's indiscretions and provided Nathan with the proper incentive to make the long journey back to his homeland, leaving a trail of brokenhearted women, angry husbands, and outstanding gambling debts behind him.
And so Nathan finds himself in a position that he has always dreaded; living in a country that seemed almost alien to him now, at odds with his father, and forced with the choice of joining the family business, or dying penniless in the streets.
Well, there was no choice at all really, there was only one thing he could do.
Look for a decent tailor, and find a good bar.
