Dear Magnus,
Hello my friend. I know we only recently parted, but I have thought of more to ask of you. Forgive me. I have sent my freedman here, Gaius Julius Trogus, to administer the construction of the towers in your provinces. Obviously he is yours to command, but I thought a dedicated person should be sent by me to manage the troops you put on the construction detail.
I know what you are thinking, but Trogus is not a military man in the slightest. He is an astute businessman and no more. As I said, he won't 'command' your troops. Only interpret the plans and establish operations by training scribes and the like when the line is completed.
Anyway, I also gave him another mission. He has come equipped with a bank draft. Blank. For, I would like to make some land aquisitions in your provinces, if I may. They are not highly valuable, but I would like them nevertheless. Gaius Marius, my late uncle, owned some mining operations in the Further province. They were in the aptly named 'Marian Mountains.' I know Sulla made all his lands forfeit, and I am certain the mines have collapsed or otherwise become useless. But, I am consolidating any and all former family holdings. So, I should like to purchase them. If you could ask your legates to scout them and get me a price, I would be happy to pay you, Magnus, for their return to my family. I assume that as governor you can wrest them from whatever troglodyte Equestrian has procured them from my other late uncle, Cornelius Sulla, your former master. Thank you.
Best,
CAESAR
