I gazed deep into a pool
A little pool of hidden depths.
From the bowels of the earth it rose
Hauling upwards on a chain
Of wasted breath.
Savage.
Tremendous.
Inhuman.
Eyes like a thunderstorm,
A hook embedded in its crystalline jaw
Like a badge of cruelty.
"I was here
Long before you crawled across the slime
On your belly, beached and helpless."
The sounds, which are heard only
By the inner ear
Rise in invisible bubbles of time.
"And when, in years to come
You crawl back, wearied of
Your burden of gravity, and
Undiluted air,
I will be waiting."
New topic - I will be waiting.
