I've been brooding about Alexander in Egypt, and jojo's just posted one of the few images I've seen of Alexander as Pharoah in Egypt.
My question is simply this . . . from what I've read, Alexander was installed as Pharoah. As such, he would have been called the Sun of Ammon quite routinely - one of the Pharoah's titles. They would, have course, have done the ceremonies in Egyptian, and perhaps Alexander didn't get a word of it. But surely, somewhere along the line, someone would have mentioned that the Pharoah was the son of the god, and the god the Greeks identified with Zeus?
My point being - surely, long before he'd gone to Siwah, he knew this, and either believed it, or didn't - so doesn't that make his "conversion" to semi-divinity much less likely after the Siwah oracle?
