Caius Fabius Lupus, voice for Lucius Julius Longinus, quaestor of Bithynia et Pontus, stood.
"Senators, Romans, I agree with our former consul, Nerva Servilius. We do not need more commanders in Egypt. Nerva has imperium to deal with this false pharoah and Cimber is already there. Why not allow him to continue to do the job he has shouldered? We all have heard the preparations he has made to protect vital areas. Who could have done more? Give him the authority to act on behalf of the missing Commodus. Give him the responsibility for Egypt. Until such time as he either proves himself incompetent, or fails, let him be the praetor of Egypt!
"It is with great sorrow, but also happiness, that I say farewell to Aeneas Iulius Romulus. Sorrow for Rome and what she loses with his retirement from her service. Happiness that, at long last, the man goes to a most deserved rest. May your days be long in peace, General. You will be sorely missed."
