As I’m sure you have heard, Giaus Julius Commodus Atrebas is now missing in action and many suspect dead. A firm leader and a valiant warrior, if under torture I know he will not cry out. I vow to exact retribution and crucify the perpetrators along the streets before this war is over.

Before bringing any such proposal to the floor of the senate, I should like to ask your opinion and approval of the following matter. The Egyptians are a superstitious lot. As you know they believe their kings and queens to be descendents of gods. Much of the support the false Pharaoh has is because of his claim to the thrown. Yet, there is one that has a greater claim.

I know Arsinoe has been like a sister to you and now you are in fact much more a father figure to her. She has been raised in the ways of Rome, though I do not know where her feelings of loyalty rest or her level of maturity. This is why I ask your guidance in the matter. Installing her to the thrown under the command of the Roman Praetor will sway the populace to follow a legitimate heir and dampen the support for the enemy. Naturally, I will not pursue the issue without your consent.

Alexandria has been tame since the riots of last year. I shall be firm in maintaining law and order. The Jewish quarter is still a puzzle to me. I met with some of their leaders to promote peace between the city inhabitance. Even though they spoke not of it, they always have a small attitude of defiance as they think their one anti-roman God is going to rise up and deliver to them world domination. I warned them to get along and offered them the use of a few of our gods until theirs manifests himself. They took no amusement of that, but they were amenable to living in peace.

Please be well and the gods be with you.

    Lucius Tillius Cimber
