My dearest Livia,
I trust that all is well with you and the children? I do miss you all. All went well on the voyage to Bithynia, though the seas were a bit rough. It was only by the good will of Neptune, though, that we made land without loss of life. On the morrow, we will be joining the main army.
I am including some letters I wish you to pass on to Caius Fabius Lupus. He will know what to do with them. I am sorry, dear Livia, that this letter is so short, but time is running out and I have much to do yet before we leave.
I do want you to know that you have made me the happiest man in all of Rome. No man could want a better wife. Be strong, my love, and our time apart will fly past as never before. Remember me in your daily prayers.
Your loving husband,
Lucius
