No matter what I did, the crystal wouldnt go in. Gnaeus stood by with an amused look on his face at my endeavors. He knew that I wasnt going to do any better with fitting the crystal into place than he had.
"Why wont it go in?" I asked Gnaeus, "It should be a perfect fit!"
"Maybe your eyesight is just a wee bit off, dear", Gnaeus offered.
"And glad of that you should be, dear", I replied with sarcasm as my eyes went from his head to his toes. I have to admit, I do get testy when things dont go the way I want them, but Gnaeus merely laughed and agreed.
"How about if I sit on it?" I suggested, sure that my idea would work.
"You might break it, then what would we do?" Gnaeus quipped.
He was not funny even though he found himself hilarious. "What have we got to lose? We either find a way to get this crystal into place or we will have to announce the impending destruction and demise of our island".
"You have a point", Gnaeus agreed and helped to lift me over the crystal.
The point of the crystal dug into me as my scant weight pressed upon it. It didnt budge. I looked at Gnaeus, "Perhaps it needs more weight? Why dont you try it?"
"I'm not sitting on that thing. I dont like to be poked and prodded", Gnaeus answered me testily.
"I'll remind you of that statement later, dear," I glared at him, "What are we going to do? I dont want to die!"
"We'll figure out something...dont get upset", Gnaeus replied dubiously.
I picked up the crystal and held it up to the light. Why didnt it fit? "Oh look it's all smudged with our fingerprints", I informed Gnaeus.
I held it to my mouth and cleaned it off with my tongue. Gnaeus was aghast. "Aura!!!!!!!!" he screamed at me, "You shouldnt have done that! We are doomed!"
"Nonsense", I replied as I shook my head at Gnaeus' outburst.
I placed the crystal into the opening once more and to my surprise it slipped right into place. "What do you have to say about that, dear?" I grinned at my husband.
