Long the night the darkness growing,
    Knowing old year passed away,
    Sidh the Solstice riding passing,
Passing to the new years dawn,
Fawn from doe New Year’s birth,
    Earth the mother giving fruit,
Lute the tune and song it gives,
Lives the life of sleeping seed,
    Heed the light tiptoe returning,
Turning turning the wheel goes on,
Fawn to Roe seed to sprout,
    Shout! For light returns today,
Day the fire the dark makes bright,
    Night flees the swelling song
