Well, this is certainly an interesting website! What drew me here is my insatiable appetite for ancient texts, from whatever cultural background.
I am an anthropologist in Fairbanks, Alaska, but born long ago in central Germany. My academic research has focused on topics ranging from Native American/Eskimo archaeology from Belize to Alaska, studies of reindeer herding communities in Alaska, Scandinavia, and Siberian Russia, Pictish linguistics, Norse sagas, and issues of domestic economies.
My greatest historical passion, however, are the Goths, and particulalry the Ostrogoths of the European Steppes. Besides teaching a few classes in anthropology and ancient civilizations, I now primarily work as a subsistence lifeways liason between Native villages in "bush" Alaska and the Alaska state government.
And on top of these interests, I love role-playing games, and I have written two: one based in 7th century British Isles, and another (classical fantasy) based on a fictional world, but extremely highly developed (1000's of pages).
I'm glad to have found this site, and as time permits, I will post items of interest and hopefully communicate with others here at Ancient Worlds!
