its called 'jumping on the band wagon'
I'm surprised it has taken so long for a major motion picture to be made about Alexander the Great.
Lets face it, his story is better than anything a Hollywood screen writer could produce. It has a bit of everything
1. A tempestuous father/son relationship between Alexander and Philip
2. An unnaturally close relationship with his mother Olympias
3. A homosexual relationship between Alexander and Hephaestion
4. An 'evil' empire and a villainous emperor, Darius III
5. Epic battles on a grand scale (I've seen stills of Gaugamela and it looks horribly realistic. Hundreds of severed limbs and rivers of blood)
6. Multiple drunken episodes
7. Friends killing friends
8. The hero dies young after conquering the world
I'm sure there are more but I can't think at the moment
