Benvolio watched as the scene played out before him. He tried to understand why Philandros would even consider NOT going back to Green Acres immediately. What could the reason be? Maybe the boy was afraid of his grandfather? Afraid of what he was capable of doing when he found out that his grandson had moved in with Sextus? It couldn't be fear of destitution, Sextus was one of the richest men in Pompeii. And surely he wasn't physically afraid of Solon or was he? Maybe the man had beaten him in the past? Whatever the reason it just didn't make sense. If he himself had the chance to move in with a man like Sextus he wouldn't hesitate for a moment. Then a thought occured to him. Maybe Philandros had some sort of family allegiance thing going on, obedience no matter what the circumstances. The boy was still young and if he had been raised like that then he might find it difficult to change. Whatever the reason, Benvolio decided then and there that he would do everything in his power to help bring the two of them together.
