which is one of the stones in Avebury.

They found the skeleton of a man underneath one of the stones who lived during the Middle Ages. From his accoutrements it appeared that he was a barber (had the instruments to cut hair and pull teeth).

Apparently the Church in that time had the stones buried, and this poor soul happened to be in the wrong place when the stone came down, so he was buried underneath it.

He was discovered in the 1930's, I think, and his remains were sent to some lab for study. Unfortunately WWII broke out and he was destroyed during the Battle of Britain!

Poor man, first to be squashed by a giant stone, then blown to pieces by a bomb!
